I teach the Alexander Technique from my home in Warfield - between Bracknell and Maidenhead, Windsor and Wokingham in Berkshire - where I live with my family, various musical instruments, a large vegetable garden and some fine laying chickens!
I have been aware of the Alexander Technique for as long as I can remember. I was born into a family of musicians, and the Alexander Technique was integral to their life and language. I had lessons as a child and during my time at the Royal College of Music. During subsequent years, whilst playing and teaching 'cello and piano, I had Alexander Technique Lessons whenever possible, becoming increasingly aware of the importance of the principles of the Technique in my life and work.
Finally I had the opportunity to train as a teacher with Ron Colyer at the Alexander Re-education Centre in Hurley, Berkshire, where I undertook the three year training certified by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique - STAT
As well as teaching the Alexander Technique, it informs every other area of my life. It enhances, and in some cases I am sure has transformed, my 'cello and piano playing and teaching, as well as my parenting, relationships and day to day activities. Sharing the potential for change that is inherent in the Alexander Technique is one of the most exciting and fulfilling things I have the privilege to do.
